During our Spring Break, we drove up to Yosemite National Park with our good friends Jackie & Nick. The drive took about 9 hours, and it was so interesting to drive through Central California - something neither of us has done before. We stayed at the Narrow Gauge Inn, which accepted dogs. We would reccomend this hotel to ANYONE! We had a doggie bag waiting for us after we arrived with treats, bowls and poop bags. They delivered breakfast to us each morning, and it was 2 miles south of the Yosemite Gates. Our room connected with Jackie and Nick's, which was great for their dogs and our dogs, and we had a balcony outside our doors. We had no problems with weather as we drove in, but when we woke up the next morning, we had about 5 inches of snow. We had picked up snow chains on the way up, and thank goodness, because they ended up being required in the park. They were quite tempermental and Dave had to stop quite a few times to make adjustments, and it is our opinion that our good ole Escape could have handled the roads without the chains...but it was all part of the experience! We stopped at many of the overlooks and saw El Capitain, Half Dome, Bridalveil Falls, and many of the other famous Yosemite Sites. We also got our National Parks Passport Stamped! There was such amazing scenery and so many gorgeous views ... combined ,Shelley and Jackie have over 400 photos! We ate dinner at Jackalopes at Tenaya Lodge...we loved seeing all of the locals and hearing about the Legend of the Jackalope. (One of the locals overheard us talking about it, and sent the bartender over to tell us the Legend). It was such a wonderful day - except for the snow chains :)
