Our last contract teaching day, the 6th Grade ELA team coordinated their outfits to pose for a Pinterest worthy photo - I think we did really well! This year has been by far the best in term of collaborating and working as a team. Everyone was supportive, encouraging and we all became very close. It's been a blessing to work with these people. At the end of the year staff meeting, our principal gave out commemorative items to those leaving the school - and she gave a very special "speech" about the contributions that Dave & Shelley have made over the years at Gibson. It was very heart felt and incredibly touching. Shelley was a basket case of emotions - and set off the rest of the ELA department as well...It don't think there was a dry eye among the five of us. When asked if we wanted to say anything, Dave thankfully had the ability to speak in coherent sentences, while Shelley was a blubbering mess! Gibson has been incredibly special to us, for so many reasons (we met there, we had both of our babies while working there, we've met some of our best friends there...), but we both truly feel the time has come to start fresh somewhere else. We will always treasure our time at Gibson! The Lone Survivor, Out!
